Orlando Watercraft Riders would like to invite SCJR to the second annual St Marys/Satilla River trip. The St Marys River is just minutes north of
Jacksonville and is a fun area to ride. I thought we would make this a three day trip this time (last year it was a 4 day trip). There's a campground that's on the St Marys River where US-1 crosses it. They are adjacent to a public ramp so launching the ski's is easy. Here's a link on the  campground:  Tent sites are $12, with electric sites going for $15. Full hookup RV sites are $25. Each site is for 2 people, extra people are $3 each. This campground is about 20 minutes north of Jacksonville, or about the same west of Fernandina Beach (by car). There's also a few hotels a couple miles north of the campground in Folkston, GA. Note that these are not 4 star hotels (2 star?) but were good enough for us last year (clean linens, AC, TV). They ranged from $35 to $65 a night (FYI, we stayed in the "Star" hotel). There's plenty of places to eat (and a grocery store), fuel, etc in Folkston.  In first choice will be to split a room with someone.  My thought would be to drive up early Friday AM and drop the skis in around 8-9AM on the St Mary/s River (some folks may want to drive up Thursday PM).  Here's some rides we could do this trip:  1) we could run the St Marys to Fernandina Beach (Fort Clinch, Amelia Island, Big Talbot Island State Park, etc).
Good restaurants/fuel downtown. We did this last time and it was fun...  2) trailer north 50 miles and put in on the Altamaha River heading west from Brunswick, GA. While this area looks great...I'm not sure we can work it into this weekend. We'll see how things go on the Satilla and St Mary's Rivers before making that decision.  3) trailer north 20 miles and run the Satilla River up river or down river to the ocean (fuel/food at Jekyll Harbor Resort Marina We ran up this river last time. Very cool rustic area. Maybe run to the ocean this time?  4) Leave this area Saturday night and find a hotel in Gainsville. Then we could hit the Sante Fe Sunday AM like we did last year. We put in at Hwy 47 where there is lot's of area to ride and play.
Plan to come home sometime Sunday afternoon. I'll provide more details to this trip as we get closer.
