| Oh What A Day"! 19 skis with 22 riders showed up
at SCJR Park this morning for the first of our summer rides. After park
clean up and safety inspections by the Banana River Power Squadron we
headed south to Island 21. Because they heard we were coming, a local
couple with a home made sea plane were waiting for us when we got there.
We heard all about the making of the plane and then got to see them taxi
out and take off. After circling a few times and dipping their wing, after
Jack Hargreaves showed them how, they were off. Tracee and Robert, from
Long Island, thought we really know how to show visitors (long distance
members) a good time. Tracee also saw her first wild dolphin while there.
We then headed north, but not without the usual SCJR incident. Tina's
ski blew a hose and her ski started to take on water, I mean really take
on water. Thanks to Fran who towed her to Ballard and Joe who took her
to her car at Pineda and then went back to help her load up. Tina we hope
this is a quick fix and you are back in commission soon. Please let us
know! The rest of us then did a "drive by" at Curt's as he was
having a family party, before we headed to Conch Key Grill for lunch.
We had 15 skis coming into Conch Key and according to one of the waiters,
we were the talk of the restaurant. Wait will they see us in the water
at the Rally. Lunch of course was great and when we got our bills is was
almost enjoyable because there were our Rally Flyers. Our newest members,
Pat and Skip, loved the day and commented on how friendly and accepting
everyone was. Thanks to everyone for that friendly spirit and for especially
turning out in mass when you heard I was going to be the ride captain.
You just new it would be good, didn't you .. Thanks everybody, Sharon |
