Well fellow clubbers, we pulled off another winner!!....Our weekend adventure
to Caribbean Shores in Jensen Beach left little to be desired!.....The first
group left on Friday morning, and after solving a battery problem with one of
the skis at the first stop at Sebastian Inlet, (are we good or what?) some of
the group had lunch at Captain Hiram's and then continued down the Indian River
to Jensen Beach....Upon arriving, the group after checking in, spent the remainder
of the afternoon lounging in the pool at Caribbean Shores and enjoying each
other's company, including Frank Kinney and Kit Kane, former members who have
just rejoined and had driven to Jensen Beach towing their new Kawasakis!
Friday evening meant a mosey into town for dinner at Crawdaddy's and some of
the most delicious New Orleans fare anywhere!! Saturday the first group ventured
out to Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge, where they pulled up to the beach
and a short walk over the dunes provided a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean
and beautiful deserted, white sandy beaches!...Meanwhile the second group was
leaving Ballard Park and making their way south!.....Since Mother Nature was
definitely a Spacecoast Jetrider this weekend, the group opted to run out Sebastian
Inlet and down the Atlantic to Fort Pierce Inlet....The ride proved to be smooth
and exhilarating...The waters were crystal clear! Upon our arrival, we stopped
to refuel and then beached downtown and had lunch at Mulligan's where our other
com padres joined us, including two friends of mine that had driven up from
Boynton Beach for their first experience on a jetski, which I gladly provided!
After that it was much of the same, (after all, you can't get too much of a
good thing, now can you?!) we lounged in the pool where I salivated thinking
about the dinner to come at Crawdaddy's!....That evening we were transported
back into town for another yummy feast, followed by homemade ice cream from
the store across the street!....My stomach was bursting, but I didn't care!.....We
headed back to Caribbean Shores where we were treated to Timmy's rendition of
"Swing Low Sweet Chariot (with gestures)"!...You had to see it, it
defies description!....Sunday morning provided a beautiful sunrise and after
gathering the troops, we went back into town where we partook in a fabulous
breakfast at Jan's! It was then time to begin the last leg of our adventure,
our return trip home!.....We headed out, topping off our fuel supply and the
decision was made to make the trip north on the Indian River... A short way
past the Fort Pierce Inlet, we were flagged down by three members of the Coast
Guard Auxiliary....on jetskis!!...I'm sure everyone thought "Oh cripes,
what did we do now?!"...Feeling confident we hadn't committed any offenses,
I pulled up to the Auxiliary Coast Guard ski, ridden by a woman!...After asking
her what was up, she blew me away!!....She wanted to know if "we were the
jetski club from up North"!...I told her we were Spacecoast Jetriders to
which she said " Oh, we know all about you guys, we go on your website
often and we knew you guys were coming down this weekend and have been watching
for you!"...She said they would love to join our club but due to the distance,
it didn't seem practical....We assured her that they could be members anyway
and told her to send their email addys to SCJR News and we would add them to
our mailing list.....Look at us...who'd a thunk we had this kind of notoriety!!.....We
chatted awhile and then continued our journey....The ride was a dandy... We
did hit some rough water around Sebastian Inlet, but our troops, now seasoned,
handled it well!.....Kudos to the less experienced, especially the ladies who
made this challenging trip....Ya done good!!....My hats off to you!!...We finally
pulled up at Ballard Park, safe and sound.....If those of you who went had half
the fun that I did....ya had a good time!!...At least I hope you did!!
See ya at the meeting on the 14th...Curt will be giving a Powerpoint presentation
of his trip to our nations capital...so dont miss it...Bye for now... John
